I began therapy training in 1997 and saw my first client in 1998. Since that time I have worked in non-profits, religious settings, and now in private practice. These experiences have shaped who I am and how I do therapy.

Since my full time job is teaching Marriage and Family Therapy at Lipscomb University, my practice is small, roughly 5-7 clients at a time. Having a small practice assures that I can give each client the special attention they deserve. Being a university professor of MFT means that I have ready access to the most recent and salient research in the field.

It is my goal to help individuals, couples, and families to heal and to grow. I use evidence based and outcome informed therapy with solution focused and narrative interventions.

EXPECTED TREATMENT COSTS

In my effort to provide excellent clinical care, I want you to know as much as you can ahead of time about what the costs will be for treatment. Here is a breakdown of estimate costs given a sliding fee range of $100-$200 per session.

1-5 Sessions: $100 - $1000 6-10 Sessions: $600 - $2000 11-15 Sessions: $1100 - $3000 16-20 Sessions: $1600 - $4000 21 or more session: $2100 and up

Most clients see results in fewer than 20 session.

OTHER POSSIBLE (less common) COSTS

Fees for service that may be requested by the client that are not generally part of regular treatment may land outside of a “Good faith Estimate.” These fees may be negotiated above and beyond a good faith estimate. Such fees may include services such as: writing psychological reports ($200 / hour), preparing for and testifying in court ($200 / hour with a 3 hour minimum), phone calls longer than 10 minutes ($40 / per each ten minutes).

Good Faith Estimate

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers are required to provide a “good faith estimate” to clients who are not enrolled in a federal healthcare plan or making claims under their health insurance plan.

You may request a Good Faith Estimate at any time. If you request a Good Faith Estimate, here is what you will receive in your Good Faith Estimate document:

Client name, client date of birth, a description of services, the proper CPT code related to services, list of good or services reasonably expected in the course of treatment, diagnostic codes, Provider Name, and Provider NPI, date of Good Faith Estimate, and office location and whether services are provided in person or via telehealth.

Disclaimer A Good Faith Estimate shows the costs of items and services that are reasonably expected for your treatment needs. The estimate is based on information known at the time the estimate was created. The Good Faith Estimate does not include any unknown or unexpected costs that may arise during treatment. You could be charged more if complications or special circumstances occur. If this happens, federal law allows you to dispute (appeal) the bill.

Clients have the right to dispute if they are charged more than the Good Faith Estimate. Clients may request the Good Faith Estimate be updated according to new charges, negotiate the bill, or request to see whether there exists financial assistance with the provider.

Clients may choose to initiate a dispute with the US Department of Health and Human Services. To do so, the client must initiate the dispute within 120 days of the original bill and pay a $25 fee for use of this process. To learn more about initiating a dispute visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (800) 368-1019.

Keep a copy of your Good Faith Estimate in a safe place or take pictures of it. You may need it if you are billed a higher amount.
